Lime
Springs Weather: All about the little box on the front page
First, you'll notice that it readily admits that
the "Lime Springs" weather is in actuality the weather
in Preston! Why? one might ask. It's because LS doesn't have a reporting
weather station and the system used to display the weather thinks
Preston is the nearest station to LS. And it probably is.
Would you like LS to have its own reporting
weather station? 'twould be kinda neat wouldn't it? Then a Cresco
website could give the Cresco weather "Observed at:
Lime Springs, IA!" Would you enjoy that? We can have one
for only a few (several?) hundred dollars.
I think one would fit really well in the new firestation! Perhaps
privately funded, but that's OK. But I digress.
Have you ever clicked on the LS weather box? Do it next time! It'll
take you to the Weather Underground page. Among many other things,
it provides a forecast for Howard County for the next week or so!
You can also click on "Favorites" --- this will show the
weather at many cities around the country. And you can click on
"Edit" and pick your own city! Going to Las Vegas to seek
your fortune? Check out the weather before you pack. Have kids/grandkids
driving home from college? Check out the weather in Ames, Iowa City,
or Cedar Falls.
There are all sorts of things to explore on the weather page. Just
click around on things which look interesting to you. The pop-up
ads will eventually drive you crazy, but just click on their "close"
box (the little X in the box in the upper right corner of the window)
and it'll go away.
Those annoying ads, by the way, are what makes it possible for The
Lime Springs Page to provide the "weather at Preston."
The little white weather box costs nothing except a little space
on the page, yet provides what I hope you consider useful information.
And it is current and accurate!
Nancy said, "It is downright fun to get the temperature!"
I hope you enjoy it, too.
